Victoria Falls — The Smoke That Thunders

Victoria Falls — known as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' (The Smoke That Thunders) in the local Lozi language — is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the largest curtain of falling water on Earth.

Straddling the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe on the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls is 1,708 metres wide and plunges up to 108 metres into the Batoka Gorge, generating a roar and spray cloud visible from 50 kilometres away.

Best Time to Visit

Peak flow (March–May): dramatic spray and roar but limited visibility due to mist. Low water (September–December): clearer views and access to Devil's Pool. A spectacular destination year-round.
